Gladden Farms

Gladden Farms is a master-planned community with first homes from 2004 and more than 3,000 homes today. It has a Fry's grocery store and a shopping center of its own. The area is served by Marana Municipal water (system 10-150), with hardness of 6 to 12 grains per gallon and an average near 9.

At about 9 grains per gallon, scale builds in tank heaters and on faucet aerators over the years. Homes of this age may be on a first or second heater, so a quick look at the label tells you where you stand. Our pages on water heater replacement and water softeners explain the choices.

Continental Ranch and Continental Reserve

Continental Ranch was annexed by Marana in 1987 and has about 4,000 HOA homes near the Santa Cruz River corridor and Cortaro Road. Building began after 1992, so homes run from the 1990s onward. Its Continental Reserve area sits on the Picture Rocks water system (10-092) at about 12 grains per gallon.

In homes that have been standing for a few decades, supply shutoff valves, angle stops and older fixtures wear out. If a valve will not fully close, that is a good time to look at faucet repair or toilet repair before something fails at night. Sewer service for Continental Reserve and Cortaro comes from Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation at (520) 724-6609.

Dove Mountain in the Tortolita foothills

Dove Mountain is a master-planned resort community that opened in 1998, with about 5,000 homes in the Tortolita foothills northeast of the Town center. The Town's hardness table does not list it, so we do not quote a figure. Confirm your water provider and hardness on your bill.

A drop in pressure or a climbing bill in any home can point to the water service line, which is the pipe between the meter and the house. Leak detection helps locate the break.

Saguaro Bloom

Saguaro Bloom is a D.R. Horton new-construction community in northwest Marana, still under development in 2026. Homes run from 1,310 to 2,519 square feet, and the ZIP code is 85653. Water comes from the Airline/Lambert system (10-138) at about 12 grains per gallon, and Marana Water Reclamation handles sewer.

New homes have new heaters, but hard water starts working from the first day. Flushing the tank on a schedule and checking the pressure relief valve are habits worth starting early. If something does fail, the water heater repair page lists the usual causes.

Picture Rocks, outside the Town limits

Picture Rocks is a census-designated place in unincorporated Pima County, with its own page at emergency plumber Picture Rocks. Its primary ZIP is 85743, which the Postal Service labels Tucson, and part of the area is also in 85653. Permits there come from Pima County, not the Town of Marana.

Hardness on the Picture Rocks system averages about 12 grains per gallon. Your provider may differ by address, so confirm it on your water bill.

Water systems and hardness by community

Hardness figures come from the Town of Marana Water Hardness per System table, May 2026. GPG means grains per gallon.

No single figure fits the whole Town, which is why hardness advice here depends on your neighborhood. Check which unit a softener uses, because one grain per gallon is about 17.1 ppm.

We take calls from Rillito, a separate community surrounded by Marana, as well as Cortaro, Twin Peaks, Hartman Vistas, Oasis Hills, San Lucas, Linda Vista and Tortolita. The water table above shows which Town system serves several of those areas.
